Troubleshooting
The AI prices look too high or too low
Updated
Jotquote suggests prices to give you a fast starting point — but you always have the final say. If a number looks off, here's how to make the AI's estimates land closer to your real rates.
Add your rates to the price book
The single biggest improvement: put your real rates in your price book. When the AI recognises a matching service, it reuses your exact rate instead of estimating — so your common jobs come out right every time.
Check your business location
Labour and material costs vary by region. Make sure your city, state and country are set in Settings so the AI prices for your local market, not a generic one.
Just edit the line
Every price is editable. Change any unit price or quantity and the totals update instantly — the AI's figure is only a draft.
Better in, better out
A detailed job description (scope, materials, location) produces a far more accurate quote than a one-liner. The more context you give, the closer the estimate.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the AI's prices not exactly my rates?
Without your price book, the AI estimates from your trade, location and live market data. Add your real rates to the price book and it reuses them for matching services instead of estimating.
Can I always change the price?
Yes — every line item, quantity and price is fully editable. The AI gives a draft; the final numbers are entirely yours.
