Add tax or VAT to your quotes
Updated
If your business charges tax, Jotquote can add a single, configurable tax line to your quotes and invoices — named and rated however you need.
Turn on tax
- Go to Settings and find the tax option.
- Turn the tax line on.
- Name it — VAT, GST, Sales Tax or whatever applies.
- Set the default rate (e.g. 15% or 20%).
One configurable line
VAT and sales tax fill the same slot — a business uses one, not both — so Jotquote uses a single tax line you control, rather than stacking several.
Per-quote control
On any quote you can rename or re-rate the tax, or remove it for a tax-free job. The tax is calculated on the subtotal and shown as its own line, with the grand total below.
Tax appears on both the quote and the invoice it becomes, so your documents are consistent.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show VAT and sales tax separately?
Jotquote uses one configurable tax line, since a business normally charges one or the other. You name it (VAT, GST, Sales Tax) and set the rate; it's calculated on the subtotal.
Can I remove tax from a single quote?
Yes. Even with tax enabled by default, you can set the rate to zero or remove the tax line on an individual quote for a tax-free job.
